In 1939 a dedicated group of volunteers created the 1st Elizabeth Fry Society in Canada here in the Lower Mainland and it was soley a voluntary organization until 1967. Since then it has been a marriage of professionals and volunteers, assisting women, youth and families in improving their life circumstances.
Volunteers have always been, and to this day remain, an integral part in advancing the Mission of the Organization.
The Society is honoured to mentor and engage over 300 community members each year as volunteers. They contribute to every program of the Society and yearly provide over 14,000 hours of services.
